Pawsitive Influence is a Dog Day Care and Training Facility that focuses on
positive reinforcement training in a cage free, home-like environment.
Dog Day Care: Pawsitive Influence believes that a dog day care is more than a supervised recess. It is time for socialization, learning, activities, and of course play time. This creates a happy, smart, exercised and tired dog - a tired dog is a happy dog. Day care can even help curb destructive behaviors, boredom, chewing, potty accidents, and loneliness from being home alone while you are away. We have set up our day care facility in a home like environment which allows us to reinforce rules like potty training, quietly watching people pass in the window, not begging at the table, and even staying off the couch if requested. At Pawsitive Influence we will help your furry family member become a better dog, giving both you and them a happy healthy life.
Training: We believe in positive reinforcement training, which is a scientific method in which positive behaviors are rewarded and negative behaviors are stopped but not punished. Psychologists believe that positive reinforcement is superior to punishment in altering behavior. Positive reinforcement results in lasting behavioral modification, whereas punishment changes behavior only temporarily and presents many detrimental side effects.
About the Owners: The new owners, Sam and Kelly, are both originally from Pittsburgh and have been living in Lakewood for several years. They have two rescued dogs, Winston Churchill a Wheaten Terrier and Hermione a Poodle, Lab, Pom, Parson Russell, Husky Mix.
Kelly has a degree in Graphic Design and has recently returned to college full time to get another degree in Art and Art History. Sam has a degree in History and Political Science and graduated from Baldwin-Wallace in 2002. He has been training dogs since 2003 using positive reinforcement. They also write a comic strip Life @ Silly Dogs.
